JJ's work blends the offbeat, uncomfortable humor of Tim Robinson with the tense, atmospheric storytelling associated with Denis Villeneuve. His scripts have been recognized in respected industry competitions, most notably as a finalist in the Fall 2021 ScreenCraft Film Fund Competition and as a Second Rounder in the Fall 2023 competition. His writing reflects a strong understanding of story structure, character development, and the craft of performance from the writer’s perspective.
